Mamah Dedeh mengungkap bahwa dulu ia kerap melihat petinggi petinggi dan orang kaya di daerah Sumatra Selatan memiliki rumah bernuansa emas.
"Saya itu sering ceramah ke daerah Sumatera Selatan, ternyata saya lihat rumah pejabat, rumah bupati, rumah walikota rumah-rumah orang kaya yang ngundang mamah itu rumahnya kebanyakan emas," cerita Mamah Dedeh.
Sehingga Mamah Dedeh tertarik untuk memiliki rumah yang demikian.
"Saya sangat tertarik, di otak saya kalo rumah saya emas juga keren nih," jelasnya.
Hingga pada suatu hari Mamah Dedeh harus merenovasi rumahnya, karena sebagian atap rumahnya sudah rusak dimakan rayap sehingga memungkinkannya untuk mengganti.
"Tadinya kan rumah mamah udah puluhan tahun, terus atapnya udah kena rayap semua terus kalo mau ganti ya diganti semua, habis itulah ide yang sudah sekian tahun terealisasikan," tambahnya.
